10 Places to Get the Best Breakfast in Byron Bay
Start your day right at one of the ten best places for breakfast in Byron Bay.
Byron’s motto is cheer up, slow down, chill out, so it’s only right that you treat yourself to a long lazy breakfast or two – or three or four – while you’re here. In fact, there are so many great breakfast spots, you might need to stay longer to try them all! But if you don’t have forever, let us point you in the right direction.
We’ve munched our way around town to find the best breakfast in Byron Bay, and these are the ten places that make us excited to get out of bed.
Bayleaf Café
With an inventive menu of fresh, organic food and local produce, Bayleaf is one of our favourite Byron cafés for breakfast. Our go-to is the Breakky Greens, but crowd-pleasers include the sweet corn fritter stack, Bircher muesli, poached eggs with house-made dukkah, and honey-roasted oats with coconut and rhubarb compote.
Bayleaf has some of the best coffee around – even Chris Hemsworth has been spotted here getting his morning caffeine fix. You’ll find a full menu with Blackboard coffee roasted just for the café. Or you could try one of the café’s innovative creations like its Coconut Cold Brew.
Bayleaf perfectly sums up the Byron vibe with its cool atmosphere, attentive staff, great coffee, and attractive spaces to share good times with friends. It’s no secret that this is one of the best places for breakfast in Byron Bay, so either aim to get here early or be prepared to wait for a table. Failing that, the café also has a separate area for takeaway where you can get a variety of salads, sandwiches, and sweet treats.

Folk
Set in a cosy whitewashed wooden cottage about a five-minute drive from town, Folk Café offers an intriguing menu of local, plant-based breakfast selections with a largely vegetarian menu. It invites you in with its attractive garden setting and plays swinging tunes – even the menu arrives tucked into an old record album cover.
Start with a coffee from Dukes of Melbourne or a dairy-free smoothie. From there, choose from tempting items like the Folk Burrito, poached eggs with silverbeet mint pesto, organic buckwheat banana pancakes, or avocado toast. The staff at Folk source locally and make their products in-house, and the place is a true paradise for coffee lovers.

The Roadhouse
On the outskirts of Byron, you’ll find The Roadhouse, where creative brunch dishes made with the best seasonal produce draw the crowds to the Roady’s sprawling terrace.
Have a seat in the sunny courtyard and ponder the many breakfast choices, such as the popular Roady green bowl, Mushie Scramble, or fruit granola. Grab a delicious Allpress coffee for your wake-up call, or select your favourite cold-pressed juice.
The Roadhouse team is dedicated to sourcing and using the freshest and best local produce, and their menu changes daily to bring you the best of the season.

Three Blue Ducks, The Farm
Located on an 86-acre working farm about a ten-minute drive from Byron, Three Blue Ducks uses farm products or other local suppliers for much of its produce. This is authentic farm-to-plate dining, and the covered outdoor patio offers sweeping countryside views to complete the experience.
You can try some imaginative breakfast choices, like the Filipino sausage and the spanner crab scramble, but they also have familiar favourites like bacon and egg rolls and bircher muesli. There’s an extensive coffee and tea menu to accompany your breakfast or even breakfast cocktails if the mood strikes you.
Three Blue Ducks’ menu leans more on the expensive side, but it’s a perfect place for food lovers to enjoy a relaxed morning meal in a beautiful setting. The only downside to being one of the best restaurants Byron Bay has to offer is that it’s always busy. We’d recommend booking ahead if possible.
