Byron Bay Markets: The 2024 Guide
Heading to one of Byron’s magical markets? Here’s everything you need to know before you go.
A trip to any of the Byron Bay markets is the quickest way to get a real sense of what makes this laid-back, bohemian little town what it is. The weekly farmers market is home to super-fresh organic produce from around the region, and the artisan and community markets celebrate the finest locally-made products, alongside delicious street food and live music.
From boho clothing and handcrafted jewellery to sustainable homeware and natural beauty products, it’s hard to resist going home with something you didn’t plan to buy!
Happily, though, you can feel good about those impulse purchases. The Byron Community Market and artisan markets are run by the Byron Bay Community Association (BBCA), a not-for-profit social enterprise that supports Byron’s most vulnerable residents.
If your visit doesn’t line up with any of the Byron markets, there are other markets taking place throughout the month in nearby Lennox Head, Bangalow, Brunswick Heads, and Mullumbimby, plus weekly farmers markets in Bangalow, Mullumbimby, and Ballina.
So grab your bags – here’s everything you need to know before you go.

Byron Farmers Market
Every Thursday
Byron Farmers Market brings together a variety of the region’s best growers and producers. Head to Butler Street Reserve every Thursday morning to stock up on fresh and organic local produce, including fruit and veg, meat, seafood, cheese, and eggs. Even if you’re not planning on cooking, take home some delicious treats, like olives, honey, baked goods, and fermented foods.
With live music and a friendly atmosphere, it’s a great place to get breakfast and a coffee.
Butler Street Reserve is just a few minutes walk from the centre of town. You can also park at the farmers market, but it does get busy.
When: Every Thursday, 7am – 11 am
Find it: Butler Street Reserve, Byron Bay
Byron Twilight Market
Every Saturday (October to April)
In the warmer months, you’ll find Bryon Twilight Market in the centre of town. Almost a mini version of the Byron Beachside Market, you can browse local artisan stalls and get a bite to eat from one of the market’s food vendors while enjoying live music from local artists.
You can park on the streets around the market, but it gets busy the closer you get to the market, so walking there is best if you can.
When: Every Saturday (October 2024 to April 2025), 4 pm – 9 pm
Find it: Railway Park, Byron Bay
Byron Community Market
1st Sunday of the month
Spending a leisurely morning exploring Byron Community Market with a coffee in hand is one of our favourite things to do in Byron Bay. Running since 1987, the Community Market is a great place to browse stalls selling unique products spanning locally made arts and crafts, handmade jewellery, clothing, ceramics, homeware, and more, alongside local musicians, street performers, and food vendors.
The market now takes place right in the centre of town and takes up a section of Jonson Street (outside the Community Centre) and extends down through Railway Park parallel with Jonson Street until it meets Lawson Street on the way into town. Parking in the streets around the market can be tricky, so walking is best, or you can try parking at Butler Street Reserve, which is a short walk away.
When: 1st Sunday of the month (plus 3rd Sunday in December and January), 8 am – 3 pm
Find it: Jonson Street, Byron Bay
Byron Beachside Market
Quarterly (January, Easter, July, and late September)
Four times a year, during the school holidays, local artisans set up their stalls in front of Main Beach to sell unique and original products.
Many are focused on sustainable and ethically made items, which include clothing, jewellery, art, natural health and beauty products, homeware, baby clothes, handmade toys, and plants.
Dates are announced throughout the year on the Byron Community Centre website.
The market starts between Byron Bay Surf Club and Dening Park and extends all the way to Clarkes Beach. You can easily walk from the centre of town or park near the surf club, at Clarkes Beach car park, or along Lawson Street.
When: Quarterly (January, Easter, July, and late September), 8 am – 3 pm
Find it: Main Beach Foreshore, Byron Bay
